The Public Finance Group has extensive experience helping its clients through the credit rating process. By assisting municipal entities in obtaining its bond ratings, we provide the following services, with recommendations to improve financial controls and plans:
- An appraisal of the municipal entity’s current financial strengths and weaknesses;
- A determination of the most appropriate and effective format for the presentation, either a field trip for the agencies to the municipal entity, meetings at their offices or a conference call;
- Schedule the meetings and make all necessary arrangements;
- Prepare an outline for the presentations and prepare officials and staff for anticipated questions;
- Prepare detailed handouts for use during the meetings;
- Hold rehearsals with all participants prior to the presentation trip or call;
- Participate in the presentations to the agencies and discuss and explain any technical matters;
- Follow-up as necessary;
- Review the agencies’ assessments of the municipal entity’s strengths and weaknesses and how each influenced the ratings received; and,
- Make recommendations to improve the municipal entity’s credit standing with the rating agencies.
