Exciting Leadership Transitions at PMA Asset Management
PMA, a leading full-service provider of financial and advisory services to local governments, announces that after more than 12 years of outstanding leadership as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), John Huber, CFA, will be retiring this summer from PMA Asset Management.
Upon John’s retirement, we are pleased to introduce Brandon Swensen, CFA, as the newly appointed Chief Investment Officer, overseeing the firm’s investment strategies and leading the investment team in continuing to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Supporting Brandon in serving our local government investment pool (LGIP) clients will be Neil Waud, CFA, who will assist in the development and execution of the firm’s pooled investment strategies.
Over the past decade, John has exemplified leadership, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to PMA’s clients. He has been instrumental in developing and growing the firm’s investment advisory business and ensuring the prudent investment performance of the LGIPs served by PMA.
“My 12+ years at PMA have been incredibly fulfilling, both professionally and personally. I’ve cherished the relationships and accomplishments we’ve achieved together between our clients and staff,” stated Huber. “I am immensely proud of my tenure at PMA, and I will value the memories and moments created during my time here.”
“John has made incredible contributions to PMA and our clients throughout his tenure with the firm. He has been a model of professionalism, always demonstrating deep care for the company, his colleagues and our clients,” said Jim Davis, Executive Chairman of the Board. “John consistently put the interests of others above his own in everything he did, and his contributions have made a lasting impact on both our clients and the firm.”
Brandon Swensen brings over 25 years of investment experience. He most recently served as PMA’s Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager, where he led the firm’s short- term team which included strategic and tactical investment management of PMA’s LGIP client funds.
Prior to joining PMA, Brandon was a Senior Portfolio Manager at RBC Global Asset Management (U.S.) Inc. There, he co-led the fixed income group based in Minneapolis and managed several cash management and core investment solutions. During his 20-year tenure at RBC, Brandon managed LGIP investment strategies, building strong relationships with many of PMA’s current
LGIP clients before PMA took the role of investment advisor. With deep experience in risk management and a strong alignment with PMA’s culture and values, Brandon’s leadership will assist the firm in continuing to build the client experience that our clients have come to expect.
“Brandon’s strategic vision for the investment management function and deep understanding of our clients’ needs paired with Neil’s public sector investment expertise positions our firm well and builds upon our strong foundation and aims to enhance the client experience into the future,” said Todd Alton, Chief Executive Officer.
Neil Waud, CFA, began his career in 1995, serving one of the oldest local government investment pools in the nation. Over the past 25 years, Neil has held various senior asset management roles including Vice President in Portfolio Management at Cutwater Asset Management (formerly MBIA) and, most recently, Chief Investment Officer at Public Trust Advisors, LLC where he managed both LGIP and separately managed account investment strategies for the firm.
