PMA Securities Advises on First “Green Bond” in Wisconsin
Milwaukee, Wis. – March 1, 2019 – The Public Finance Group of PMA Securities, Inc. (“PMA”) is pleased to announce that its Milwaukee team has successfully executed the first “Green Bond” in the state of Wisconsin. The bond sale for Oregon School District, Wis. closed on March 1. Green Bonds are debt instruments that allow investors to invest in sustainable projects. The proceeds raised through the issuance of Green Bonds are used exclusively for projects that have a positive impact on the environment. “Oregon School District is committed to environmental sustainability,” states Michele Wiberg, Managing Director, Senior Vice President of PMA Securities, Inc. “The new elementary school will be the first ‘net zero’ school constructed in Wisconsin.” A ‘net zero’ energy, or ‘net zero’ carbon, building uses a combination of building energy efficiency and on-site energy generation so that over a one-year period, there is no net carbon released into the atmosphere to operate the building. “Utilizing the Green Bond designation for this financing is a natural extension of the District’s commitment to the environment” Wiberg states.
